so, there was a small issue with my new sketchbook. turns out the inside covers were smudging black onto the first and last pages.

it isn't a big deal, but i decided to fix it; and by doing so, i managed to somewhat customize my sketchbook.  :)

i have these patterned cardstock papers lying around and i finally put them to good use! the back cover has a similar orange pattern glued to it as well. and no more smudge!

anyways, i had a lot of fun with the first page of my sketchbook. i got to try out my new brush pen and i absolutely love it.

i had a story behind these two friends, but i can't seem to remember it. i just remember the redhead screwed something up. that soulless bastard. (i'm totally kidding, by the way. gingers do have souls.)

elephant in the room

i love that my four year old nephew loves to draw and paint. he's progressed from scribbles to shapes and now identifiable objects/animals. a lot of the time i let him make random organic shapes and i'll create something out of it to amuse him.
we created an elephant fish a while back and now i've recreated it. :)

also, today is my lovely mother's birthday! so, in the most elegant way i can sing this via the internet:

happy birthday to you

happy birthday to you

happy birthday dear mom

happy birthday to you!

hi,

my name's elle. i'm an inconsistent novice in all things art. i figured this would be a good way to continuously post up sketches and stuff. anyways, i hope you enjoy...i'm going to try drawing challenges to keep me motivated & inspired. in the meantime, here is today's sketch of seananners.
